He also wanted to remain with us through some other singular “substance”: love and reciprocal love. Actually, He linked his presence to the unity of his disciples: “Where two or more are united in my name, there I will be in the middle of them” (Mathew 18:20). Because of this the two disciples who flee Jerusalem on the way to Emmaus, despite their coward ness and lack of faith, took with them the presence of Christ, since they loved and were united in the name of the Lord. However, they didn’t know it and because of this didn’t realize it.

The same can also happen to us. It is possible that we don’t realize that the Lord is in our home and that we expel Him when we fight with each other, when there is violence and tension. At times, frequently, this happens because of trifles, insignificant things, egotism. We push Christ from our side when we break the unity, when reciprocal love disappears. We invite him to be amongst us, when we love our fellow man in name of the Lord, as the Lord loved and for the Lord. And the Lord loved with a religious motivation -for God- and with a love that includes forgiveness and generosity.

We can also push Christ from our side, or at least not recognize his presence and therefore not value it, when we consider that he has abandoned us because we are having difficulties. Although we don’t feel Christ, we shouldn’t doubt of his presence or of his love.

Intention: Analyze your community relations (family, friends, work…), to see if you are behaving in a way that the Lord is present, to see if there is unity.

April 19, 2026. “As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.” (Luke 24, 14-16) The Lord, according to what St. Mathew…

Leer más ›

[5
