2º Sunday of Christmas: Take in Jesus

January 4, 2026.

The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”.  (John 1, 9-12)

In this fragment of the Gospel according to Saint John, and in so many others of his writings, you can see not only the nostalgia of an absent friend, but also the pain of the apostle upon seeing the poor treatment Christ receives from his own. John seems to have no idea other than: God is love; God has loved us first and in an infinite manner, surpassing by a lot what we could have expected or deserved.  However, we haven’t known how to honor this love and we have returned bad for good, ungratefulness for generosity. It is a feeling similar to that which paralyzed Saint Francis when, through the vision in which he had access to the contents of the prayers of men, which all had in common that they were requests exclaimed: “Love is not loved”.

Our intention for this week, in symphony with the previous weeks, must be to offer to shelter Jesus, as did Maria. It is necessary to “redress” the injuries, to repair the damage that Jesus suffers and has suffered, beginning with that which we ourselves have done to him.  It is urgent to do justice to God and, for it, nothing better than to construct the home He needs, in the heart which loves him above all else, in the soul free of sin and full of generousity of which he can feel proud. “We, Lord – should be able to say at the end of the week the same as at the end of our lives- we have known you and we have loved you, because to know you and to love you was our greatest fortune, our great treasure”.

Intention: Don’t do anything to bother Christ and, on the contrary, everything that he could like, that could make him feel better with us and around us, in the family and in society.
