March 1, 2026.
“Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. “His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” (Mathew 17, 1-2)
All of us, at one time, have felt enlightened by God. On occasions it will have been through an illness that will have made us meditate upon the type of life we are leading, as happened with Saint Ignatius or to Saint Francis. On other occasions we will have been influenced by a friend or a priest, who will have helped us realize where the true happiness is. Perhaps it is even that God has made himself present in our lives in a special way through an extremely difficult time or on the other hand through a series of very happy moments. It is important that we are aware of these “moments of enlightenment”, these times at which we have felt God so close, are not to be enjoyed only at the moment that the happen, but to sep them in our memory and use them when we are affronted with the opposite type of times: those of darkness, of pain, of the silence of God. This is what Christ wanted to do in the Tabor with his friends, through the Transfiguration: prepare them with moments of light for the moments on the cross.
Let us discover this week, by using our memory, which have been or are the good times in our lives; in our marriage, with our children, at work, with the Church, with friends, with our parents, with the religious group we belong to, with God. Invoke these old treasures to illuminate, with their light, the darkness of the present. Do justice by God by giving him thanks for the good received, to not pay attention only to the problems that we now have.
Intention: Remember the good times to be more objective, more just, en our relations with others, especially with God. This way we will have fewer crises.
